Ultra-light northerlies made for a tactically interesting race this weekend and someone was finally able to gatecrash the Flair IV/Quokka party!
Carpetbagger, a HOD 35 from the pen of Rob Humphreys, and the spiritual predecessor to the Elan 37 (of which Quokka is currently the best) got away from the line well and sailed a tactically astute race to narrowly miss line honours but save her time on the Class leaders, and fellow Humphreys designs, Flair IV and Quokka.
For us on Flair IV it was good to be right on the line and also continue to display a light wind speed and pointing ability that has never been seen on the 40 before. Whilst we are disappointed to have finally conceded the overall class lead to Quokka we are confident that we have the tools and ability to wrestle it back!!!
