News : HWS Race 2 - Back to winning ways [Oct 17]

We're back, with a smoother bottom (ooerr!), some new carbon cloth courtesy of that nice Mr Sanders Sails (and Jim's chequebook!) and with a desire to get Flair and her crew back to the top.

We are also proud to announce a new supporter of our endeavours, Galliford Try, the building, interiors and civil engineering group, see www.gallifordtry.plc.uk. This is particularly pleasing as this is an extension of several personal relationships that have developed over the last few years at many events and we are proud that such a business has chosen to support us despite our "interesting" 2005 year to date! We will be flying a Galliford Try spinnaker (Sanders AP) and the hull will be suitably logo'd.

After the disappointment of the lack of wind on week 1 of the series it was good to see an E breeze, very variable in strength, 8-18 knots, and direction, but a breeze nonetheless!!! Making the most of quick decision making ability in the new 5 minute start sequence Flair IV was right on the pin end at full speed and was then never headed. With a new-found pointing ability thanks to the set-up found with her new Sanders Carbon main (black is still VERY fast!) and excellent boat-speed, allied to an excellent tactical performance meant that a loose cover could be applied to Quokka whilst still sailing away to line honours and a victory on corrected time of just under a minute. Elan 1-2 again with Flair IV upholding the honour of the 40's with Quokka, the 37, in second.
