How close does it get?

After a series of close races this season we were finally rewarded with a first place this Sunday, only to see snatched from our grasp following a re-visit by the committee to some of the elapsed times.

Another light wind day with shifts of 30-40 degrees saw the start sequences delayed yet again this series. With the committee boat end being favoured both ourselves an Quokka got off to slow starts in amongst the melee but with us managing to extract ourselves slightly better during the early stages of the race. With limited tactical opportunities it was a drag race until the last beat when we were able to wind spot very well, staying right and promptly passed Junkanoo, Fairview and the X362 (subsequently excluded for an OCS) and making up good ground on Assassin. With a good run and very short beat into the finish we knew it would be close but we hadn't quite made up our time on Assassin (according to the committee) and Fairview had clung on for a 6 second lead for second place.

Race 6 should be good. With only 4 points covering Flair IV in 2nd, Fairview in 3rd and Assassin in 4th discards will be crucial.
