News : Flair IV wins "Boat of the Series" [May 16]

Dear All,

Sailing is what turns us on but we do like to do justice to the odd social.

Friday night saw a rickety old "U Drive" mini bus careering up the M27 from Dorset to Warsash Sailing Club for the Spring Series Prize Giving, there were no absentees from our crew and supporters. We were very pleased to see senior Kier guys James Armitage and Graham Willoughby in support, they have both sailed with us several times so contributing personally as well as with funds towards the running costs of the boat. Martin Moody was sailing on the winning Sigma 38 and represented the Moody Group.

We duly collected our IRC Class 2 winners plate and awaited the outcome of the overall Trophy. We were delighted that Peter Parker with "Prime Cut" (he is a butcher) won The Commodore's Cup albeit with a mathematically poorer set of results to ours. But there was another new "Raymarine Pot" left on the shelf which we are very pleased to say they had left for us as "Boat of the Series". It did give me a chance to listen to the jibes of "stand up Jim" as I stood up and then stood on the table top to make the "On behalf of the competitors thank you's". Needless to say we are over the moon and have generally been a pain in the arse ever since.

So thank you all for your support it has proved to be a good Winter and Spring lets hope the Summer season follows suit.

Regards and Thanks,

Lucky Jim.
